AFAP President Captain Louise Pole and AIPA President Captain Tony Lucas.

The AFAP works in conjunction with the Australian and International Pilots Association (AIPA) to form the Australian Airline Pilots’ Association (AusALPA). AusALPA represents more than 5,000 professional pilots within Australia on safety and technical matters.

AusALPA takes an active stake in the Australian aviation industry, participating in inquiries in the aviation sector and contributing members to various industry forums. AusALPA is also an active member of the global pilot body, the International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA). One of AusALPA’s key objectives is to provide further professional training and education for its safety and technical volunteers, and its general membership, in order to be able to provide effective and efficient representation to the aviation industry both nationally and internationally.

In line with the IFALPA standing committees, AusALPA’s working Committees are

  • Accident Analysis & Prevention (AAP)
  • Aircraft Design & Operations (ADO)
  • Aerodrome Ground Environment (AGE)
  • Air Traffic Services (ATS)
  • Helicopters (HEL)
  • Human Performance (HUPER)
  • Legal/Professional & Government Affairs (LEG/PGA)
  • Security/Dangerous Goods (SEC/DG)

Want to be a Safety and Technical representative (S&T rep)!

Working pilots volunteer to contribute to the progress of safety and technical matters through becoming a S&T rep and participant in the S&T team.

Professional development, networking opportunities and the ability to affect positive change are all reasons cited by the S&T reps as benefits of being part of the S&T team.
