RE AFAP (Nauru Airlines) Pilot Committee - Expressions of Interest
Updates - AFAP & Nauru Airlines June Meeting
The AFAP (Industrial Officer) met with Nauru Airlines representatives including the HOFO, Line Ops Manager and Human Resource Manager on Friday 21 June 2024 to discuss ongoing matters that continue to be of concern. The AFAP used the meeting to note ongoing concerns, whether through pilot engagement, agreements with the pilot group, or a potential enterprise agreement with the pilot group – all of the above would benefit from a pilot group committee that is heard and resolutions acted upon.
Pilot Committee
The AFAP proposed that the AFAP Industrial Officer(s) and Nauru Airlines Pilot nominees (AFAP reps) would form the pilot group representation on the pilot committee – and parties appeared to be on same page to improve communication and schedule regular meetings. This is a good opportunity to develop a mechanism for improved discussions, negotiations and making improvements to benefit the pilot group at Nadur Airlines.
The AFAP propose our role will be to assist to coordinate the pilot committee and provide the committee support by assigning AFAP Industrial Officer(s) as part of this role, and also utilising AFAP resources to assist the pilot committee (for example the AFAP host membership meetings in Brisbane, AFAP pilot surveys undertaken, AFAP Safety and Technical team support).
AFAP (Nauru Airlines) Pilot Committee Nominations
The AFAP seek expressions of interest from AFAP members interested in representing pilots on the AFAP (Nauru Airlines) Pilot committee, noting we view that several reps (and potential proxies) would be ideal. We encourage all members to consider supporting the committee, and discuss with your colleagues.
Please email the AFAP via
Jason@afap.org.au your expression of interest to be on the AFAP (Nauru Airlines) Pilot Committee by Tuesday 2 July 2024.
AFAP Member Meetings - TBC
The AFAP would also like to establish member meetings at AFAP Offices in Bowen Hills Qld. This will assist in a collective approach and be able to provide direction for the AFAP and pilot committee.
Further, the AFAP are seeking feedback and suggestion from members on best meeting days/times to catch almost all the pilots.
Industrial & Safety Concerns
In light of strategies above, the AFAP encourage that pilots continue to make the appropriate reports to Nauru Airlines regarding identified industrial issues (Award compliance relating to duty and rest periods, allowance payments or other matters ) and/or Safety concerns (including identified accommodation concerns), which may also include fatigue reporting where appropriate and required.
The AFAP request members provide copies of these concerns and/or reports to the AFAP (and thank members that continue to do so during this period). This will remain important for the AFAP and the pilot committee to be across all concerns. Pilots should monitor and keep a record of industrial/safety issues including relative documentation in case they may be required in this or any future process.
Should you have any feedback, queries or additional matters you would like to raise please contact either Jason Newell on
Jason@afap.org.au, or James Mattner on
James@afap.org.au.
Regards,
The AFAP Industrial Team
