NJS Pilot Council To Approach Company to Re-Open the EA – Complete the Survey
Your NJS Pilot Council has for months been advocating to the company that the current EA for NJS pilots is not fit for purpose and will adversely affect the ability of NJS to attract and retain pilots onto the new 220 fleet.
Members will also have been aware that recently it had been circulated amongst the pilot group that NJS were contemplating changes to terms and conditions of employment for the NJS pilot group, but that ultimately this had been blocked due to the potential arbitration process about to commence over in Perth in relation to Network Aviation.
Since then of course there has been confirmation from Qantas that Network Aviation pilots were to obtain a retention bonus should they remain in the company and the company has introduced other improvements to terms and conditions even before the arbitration process has commenced, yet nothing has materialised for NJS pilots – despite being told any improvements were on hold because of the Network situation.
Due to the lack of any movements your NJS Council Reps have agreed that a formal approach needs to be made to NJS to re-open the EA and improve some key aspects of that deal, that if go unchecked could adversely impact pilot attraction and retention in the current pilot labour market. Convincing the company to re-open the EA would provide a clear indication that NJS values its pilots.
To aid us in this process we’re undertaking a quick survey of pilots to rank key elements of our current EA that need to be improved if we’re going to remain a career of choice for pilots. Noting that we have no legal avenue to force the company to reopen the EA the survey is designed to highlight just a few key areas that the company can quickly address if they are to meaningfully address the problems of the NJS EA.
The survey link is here and will remain open until CoB Tuesday 16th July.
The Pilot Council is also holding their meeting next week at the Canberra base and reminds pilots we have a meet and greet on Tuesday evening at the Bentspoke brewery. We shall of course be raising the topic of re-opening the EA and explaining that we are surveying the membership – so its vitally important that we get maximum feedback from our pilot group.
We’ll of course keep you updated on progress and as always your reps are:
