Qantas Short Haul EA Update No 16 - Reminder Voting Opens Today

Qantas Short Haul EA Update No 16 – Reminder Voting Opens Today

The AFAP reinforce the need for all SH pilots to participate in the vote. Under the Fair Work Act, 50% + 1 of those pilots who vote are required to approve a new EA. Therefore, those who do not vote do not count.

The vote opens today at 1200 (AEST) and will close at 1200 (AEST) on Tuesday 1 October 2024.

The vote is a secret ballot conducted electronically by an independent third party (Elections Australia). A QR code has been provided by Qantas or alternatively you can go to the following address on your browser: www.myvote.com.au/qshp to access voting when it opens.

Please note that while you are required to provide your surname, staff number and date of birth this only used to check that you are eligible to vote.

AFAP Supporting Information

We strongly encourage all SH pilots to take the time to assess the final document and the available information (see further below) to be informed prior to voting.

The AFAP Qantas Pilot Council (QPC) are recommending pilots vote no to the proposed Agreement. We have outlined in detail our reasoning and an alternate offer which are provided for reference below:

The AFAP's explanatory memorandum is available here.
The AFAP’s alternate offer is available here.

AFAP Webinar Recording Available

The AFAP thank pilots for their attendance at our webinars last week. We recognise that many pilots will have had work or personal commitments, so we have provided a recording of a webinar for viewing here.

Summary

We urge you to take the time to carefully read the EA documents along with the other material above from the AFAP and assess the package in its entirety before participating in the vote. Ultimately the decision rests with the pilot group as to whether the EA as proposed should be approved.

If you have any questions or concerns over any aspects of the document, we welcome members sending emails, or contacting the QPC representatives or AFAP legal team directly to ensure that you are informed prior to voting.

For any inquiries regarding Short Haul bargaining or other matters at Qantas please contact the AFAP legal and industrial team of Senior Legal/ Industrial Officer Pat Larkins (patrick@afap.org.au), Senior Industrial Officer Chris Aikens (chris@afap.org.au), or Executive Director Simon Lutton (simon@afap.org.au).
