Joining the AFAP in 1974, Julian was a member of the Trans Australia Airlines (TAA) council during the 1980s and flew for the airline for 15 years from its Melbourne base.

He moved to Hong Kong following the 1989 Pilots’ Dispute and was employed as a pilot by Cathay Pacific for another 15 years.

Returning to Australia, he was involved in developing the drug and alcohol HIMS program in Australia as an offshoot of the parent program in the USA.

In addition to his welfare rep role, Julian also serves on the National Pilot Council (NPC) committee and is currently the NPC Secretary.
