Mr Mark Hughes
Mark leads the Operational Safety team responsible for managing Air New Zealand’s SMS. Mark is also the Chair of the airline’s Fatigue Working Group (FWG). Prior to his current role, Mark was the Deputy Director at the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand. Mark has held roles as Director of Flight Operations, Chief Pilot, and Director of Human Factors for various airlines in Canada. He has extensive experience as an airline pilot and previously as a military pilot in both Canada and New Zealand. Mark’s passion for fatigue risk management began with one of his early roles as a flight safety investigator, and this has continued throughout his aviation career.
