Air Pilots Award & Superannuation Increase July 2023
As per the previous AFAP Air Pilots Award 2020 update in June 2023, the minimum wages and relative allowances in the Air Pilots Award 2020 (“Award”) increase this month.
The result of the Fair Work Commission Annual Wage Review 2022-23 decision on Friday 2 June 2023, requires minimum wage rates under the Award to increase by 5.75% from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2023.

Air Pilots Award 2020 [Includes 1 July 2023 Wage and Allowance Increases]
Since the last AFAP update the allowance increases have been confirmed in the Award, importantly members should note the following.
- Loss of Licence Allowance 20.3 (c) increases to $2,364 p.a.
- Meal related allowances in accordance with 20.3(a)(v) & B.4.4/B.4.5 increase for breakfast, lunch, dinner and incidentals to $32.08, $35.95, $61.79 & $27.97 respectively.
- Members can review a complete list of allowance increases in Schedule G of the Award.
Please note that the increases in the Award wages and allowances will not directly affect members currently covered by an enterprise agreement.
Additionally, the required employer superannuation contributions in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992 (Cth) will increase to a minimum of 11% from 1 July 2023. See details of the required employer contributions on the ATO Superannuation Contributions web page.
